The State of the World

Do you find yourself saying "Why does Anton insist on posting these weird articles on weird topics in weird countries?" It's mostly because I find it interesting, of course. BUT, let's say you don't read the articles. You cheat. You check out my blog, don't click any links, and move on. Okay, that's cool. I can live with that. You can lead a horse to water, but you can't make him drink, right?

But what if you want to know what's going on in the world, but don't have the time to dig through all my posts? Well, I'm giving you an "out". In the form of an oh-so-handy cheat sheet to many foreign policy issues in the years to come. It's light on economics, heavy on military and international relations. It's a great excuse to pick up a copy of Esquire magazine too.

And if you're interested, Tom has updated this original article with a web-only "director's commentary". Due to the archaic world of magazine printing, the article undergoes final editing in February, so it's tough to predict what things will look like at the end of April when the magazine goes to the newsstands.
